Motion type on a fight scene from Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Type represents violence and physical blows nicely. Blood splashes illustrate effects well although a bit obvious. Type was a bit too slow due to slow motion in original movie scene, which somewhat hindered the representation of an actual fight and could have been compensated in some way.
A motion type piece on a scene from the movie Sherlock Holmes. Nice idea of setting the type into an old newspaper and clever side illustrations to aid perception, however - spacing problems and typefaces not always appropriate.
11 words for 2011, some of which cleverly presented, while others are pretty predictable. Transition between words is consisted throughout the entire piece - through the letters in them and not the images - making the words more important than the supporting images. Not sure about typeface and spacing.
Music video for the humorous instrumental track ‘Melon’ by the Bulgarian band FSB (from the 90s). Features dancing girls from around the world and moves nicely with music. Very bright and colourful.
Humorous animation on the topic of nuclear war - scribbles and doodles match tone of voice and vocabulary choice.
Saul Bass inspired motion piece. Good choice of colours and images. Has an impact on audience.
Life and Fate trailer Devilfish has created this Saul Bass-inspired film to promote the new BBC Radio 4 dramatisation of Vasily Grossman’s novel Life and Fate, which stars David Tennant and Kenneth Branagh.
Humorous animation on how Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows should have ended. Fall scene illustrates creating the illusion of falling objects nicely.
How Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows should have ended
Hysterical “How #Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows should have ended” video. Oh brilliant.
Very nice idea of using organic products to illustrate a piece on organic food. Very clever transitions and unexpected use of fruit and vegetable shapes to create other images.
A fun website using the lyrics of the song Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley, which then morph into his emblematic dance moves (as seen in the music video).
Stop motion Falafel making instructions of cut out paper. Illustrated only through stop motion and sounds - very entertaining and engaging, although instructions not always clear (so not entirely practical). Still, by idea, it is a better manual for cooking than a dull printed out recipe.
